How a decision is counted

Most calls use 1 decision unit. You use more when:
  • You send more documents — 1 unit per document
  • The input is long — about 1 unit per 4,000 tokens of text
  • Grounding runs a web search — +1 unit
Whichever is higher between “documents sent” and “text length” is what you pay; grounding is added on top. Unused units do not roll over. Hitting the allowance returns 402 until the next period.

Why this model

Short prompts stay cheap (one unit). Long-context calls scale with size (one unit per 4k input tokens). Batching many questions on the same document bills once, not per question.
